About Fabrikist

In 2017, circumstances aligned for me to fulfill a long time goal of living abroad. With my Turkish-American husband, dog and cat, we relocated to an Aegean seaside village in Bodrum, Turkey. Even before arriving, I was determined to make the most of my limited time and to find a more authentic experience.

In an effort to live mostly as locals, we routinely sourced our purchases from outdoor village markets and small independent shops. There, I sampled every kind of good from produce and spices to home essentials, all domestically grown or made. Having left behind my U.S. vintage resale business, I was disappointed to discover a lack of that opportunity in Turkey. Still, the drive persisted to uncover and share my best finds from my new hunting grounds.

Beyond masses of trendy, budget products, I discovered a few examples of traditional goods mostly out of favor with today’s locals. Well made with lived-in appeal, artisan and vintage home textiles became my favorite daily use investments. Fabrikist is my evolving collection of distinctive linens, curated kilim, custom cushions and handmade shoes.
